We’re excited to announce a massive new wave of campaigning: Summer Heat. Let us explain. Our team – Katie, Lexy, Claire, Simon, Sarah, Alana, and Josh travelled from Australia together at the end of June to Istanbul, Turkey for an event organised by 350.org, called “Global Power Shift.”
Global Power Shift brought people from 130 countries together to plan, strategise and get active in building a global climate movement. There was one clear message: to limit global warming to no more than 2 degrees Celsius, we need to take on the fossil fuel industry. We need to get active from every corner of the world to stop them from tanking our planet.
That’s why here in Australia, we’re planning a series of actions targeting the fossil fuel industry this coming summer, called ‘Summer Heat’.
Summer Heat is based on one simple motto: as the temperature rises, so will we.
It will involve a series of actions targeted at the fossil fuel industry and their dangerous plans to expand coal and gas mining in Australia. Summer Heat will bring Australia’s climate, social justice and environment movements together to show the fossil and the Government that we are one bold, connected, and powerful movement and we can’t be beaten.
