The #StopAdani Roadshow returns to Townsville on 27 April after the original event was cancelled due to Cyclone Debbie.
“We are thrilled to announce the #StopAdani Roadshow is returning to Townsville at a time when the campaign against Adani’s mega coal mine is reaching fever pitch,” #StopAdani spokesperson, Isaac Astill said.
“This is a battle for the future of regional Queensland: the old boom and bust mining model, or a new model based on long term sustainable jobs and the clean energy future. Townsville is central to this debate and we are overwhelmed with the support the #StopAdani campaign has received in Townsville.
Tyler Pierce from the North Queensland Conservation Council said the Roadshow is a chance to get more people on board to stop the mine.
“After having to cancel the first one we are excited for its return, paired with the premier of Guarding the Galilee it’s going to be a great night. It will give us the chance to really get the action started up here and get more people on board to help #StopAdani, and make the government realise that North Queensland locals do not want the Carmichael mine to go ahead,” Pierce said.
The Townsville #StopAdani Roadshow event will take place at Event Cinemas in the city at 6 pm.
