Climate action group 350 Australia says “there’s no future in gas” as the Albanese Government talks up the polluting industry.

Resources Minister Madeleine King launched the ‘future gas strategy’ today which includes support for gas to ‘2050 and beyond’.

350 Australia CEO Lucy Manne said: “More gas means more pollution, and that means worse fires and floods. We can’t have a safe future and massive new gas projects.

“Gas threatens the health and wellbeing of communities, endangers animals, from koalas to whales and is driving the climate crisis.

“Minister King is doing the dirty work of the gas lobby by spruiking opening up massive new gas fields right across the country.

“This is an absolute betrayal of communities who are feeling the impacts of climate change and extreme weather events now.

“This has the shady influence of Woodside and Santos written all over it – it’s time for Labor to govern for the people, not multinational corporations.

Over the last 10 days, 60 communities across the country have participated in the Rise Up Actions, calling on the Federal Government to take action to tackle climate change and keep coal and gas in the ground. There will be actions in Melbourne and outside Madeleine King’s office in Perth today.

“Communities across the country have turned out in force to show the Albanese Government they don’t want any more coal and gas. Those calls will just keep getting louder.
