In 2018, we are going to accelerate our response to climate change. We all know we have to.

As a part of 350 Australia’s push to make sure that climate change will be front and centre of every election going forward, our founder, Bill McKibben, is coming back to Australia as part of a global effort to accelerate climate change action.

Book your tickets for Bill McKibben’s Accelerate Climate Action tour in Newcastle, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin!

Bill McKibben tour

For those of you who don’t know, Bill McKibben is a global climate activist leader and inspiring speaker.

Bill’s 1989 groundbreaking book, The End of Nature, is regarded as the first book for a general audience about climate change, and has been published in 24 languages. Since then he has written over a dozen more books, and founded 350.org, the first global grassroots climate change movement. In 2012, Bills article “Do the Math” for Rolling Stone magazine became one of the most read articles in the magazine’s history and changed the way the world thought about investment in fossil fuels.

In 2014 Bill was awarded the Right Livelihood Prize, sometimes called the ‘alternative Nobel.’

It is an honour to have Bill visit us again.

‘Accelerate’

Bill’s tour will focus on the extraordinary impact of 350’s fossil fuel divestment campaign globally, and the groundbreaking NYC legal case against five of the world’s biggest oil companies. Bill sat next to the Mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio  as the announcement was made.

Just like New York, Australians should not have to pay for the consequences of climate change when the fossil fuel companies most responsible have known for decades what was going to happen and have done everything they could to stop policy action.

It is this global momentum, this “acceleration”, that Bill will be bringing to Australia. The tour will seek to ramp up public pressure for climate action in Australia.

350 Australia supporters

Over coming weeks we will be giving you more information about Bill’s tour.

We want our supporters to engage with Bill as much as possible as he races around the country, and will be hosting multiple public events and opportunities for passionate 350 people to meet Bill. For those who cannot attend in person, we will be live streaming at least one of his inspiring events.

With Bill’s tour, we will be ramping up towards the next federal election. We’re already moving towards a future without fossil fuels – but it’s time to accelerate our response.

We hope you’re ready to accelerate with us.
