No public money for Adani mine another blow for the project: 350.org Australia

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull today ruled out providing public money for Adani’s controversial Carmichael coal mine.

Today’s decision follows a similar commitment by the QLD Government, and leaves Adani without any Australian finance.

“This must finally be the nail in the coffin for the Adani Carmichael coal mine. There is no finance for it now, there is no appetite for it in Australia or globally and Mr Turnbull today confirmed that,” 350.org campaigner, Moira Williams said.

“Climate change has already laid waste to huge swathes of the Great Barrier Reef and left much of the country in the worst drought in history. If Prime Minister Turnbull is really serious about saving the Great Barrier reef for his grandson, he must speed up the transition to clean energy by ruling out all fossil fuel subsidies, and committing to new fossil fuel projects.
