Fossil fuel infatuated Scott Morrison must apologise for coal rant

350.org Australia has slammed Treasurer Scott Morrison for bringing coal into the Parliament House chamber today, calling on him to apologise on behalf of the millions of people who have lost their lives to coal pollution and many more whose futures are threatened by fossil-fuel-driven climate change.

“Mr Morrison’s actions show deep disregard for the impact of Australia’s obsession with coal, an obsession which is wrecking peoples’ health, destroying the Great Barrier and driving unprecedented global warming,” 350.org Campaign Director, Charlie Wood said.

“The Treasurer’s infatuation with coal obviously stems from the flood of cash that the industry donates to his party. This is further evidence that the Australian government is in the pocket of the big polluters.

“With a government that loves that coal industry so much, how can Australians trust them to make the right decisions for our future.

“It is no surprise that our Government is so hell-bent on supporting Adani’s mega coal mine in Queensland even when millions of people here and overseas have taken action to oppose this carbon bomb. There is no safe climate future if the Adani mine goes ahead.

“They’re just so terrible.”
