Their bullying legal strategy outlines the mega coal mining company’s plans to intimidate community opposition by waging “war” on scientists, trying to financially cripple activists and pressuring the Queensland Government to pass environmental approvals.

We’re certainly not finishing 2018 without a fight! As the year draws to close, it feels like a turning point is coming for climate action in Australia. In this final month of the year, we are seeing sustained pressure on politicians of all stripes to commit to real climate action and grassroots groups stepping up to fill the leadership void!

Over the last four years, students have led campaigns across 18 Australian campuses urging their universities to divest from fossil fuels. Currently, Australian universities invest millions of dollars through their endowments into fossil fuel companies that are putting our future at risk from the impacts of dangerous climate change. Today we celebrate a huge milestone in the worldwide movement to take down the fossil fuel industry that is driving the climate crisis: Over 1000 institutions worldwide, worth almost 11 trillion AUD, have committed to divest from the world’s biggest oil, coal and gas companies! In Australia just this week, Wollongong City Council announced that they would divest, adding their name to the list of 45 other councils with divestment motions in Australia!
