Pollution from coal and gas is causing climate change and intensifying devastating weather. It’s fuelling extreme bushfires, floods, sea level rise and heatwaves.
Coal and gas companies are planning a massive expansion of mines and gas fields in Australia. And governments keep approving their damaging projects.
Already, Australia’s coal and gas exports are responsible for three times our domestic greenhouse gas emissions.
We need to change the politics of fossil fuels and achieve meaningful changes to laws that will keep fossil fuels in the ground.
Through engagement and conversations in local communities, and working in powerful alliances we are building grassroots power in areas that politicians care about to show them there is support for keeping fossil fuels in the ground.

We are recruiting thousand of volunteers to take action in their local communities.
Together, we can show candidates that the community wants urgent action to tackle the climate crisis and keep fossil fuels in the ground.

OUR VOLUNTEER’S STORY
In 2017, I woke up in the early hours of the morning to the sound of the gas bottle bashing against the side of the house as flood water rose around us. The backyard and street were filled with water as far as the eye could see.
In 2022, I saw the aftermath of devastating flooding in the Northern Rivers, unlike anything that had happened in the region previously. The fallout is still ongoing.
Since then, my frustration with the lack of government action and ongoing funding of fossil fuels has driven me to take action. I got sick of our government approving new coal mines and giving huge amounts of public funds to massive, polluting corporations while communities are dealing with the harsh effects of the climate crisis.
This year I signed up to volunteer with 350 Australia. I knew I needed to act. With an election around the corner, it seemed like the right time to tell the Australian government: we want change. ”

Our plan
Only a climate-champion government can deliver action that will protect us all from the impacts of the climate crisis. We’ve been fighting coal and gas projects one by one. We need decisive action from the government that will stop all climate-wrecking projects.
In 2025, we’re building community support to show politicians we have power in places they care about. We will force the government to act in the best interest of the community, not greedy fossil fuel giants.
We are building a powerful, connected movement and sharing the stories of communities that have been impacted by escalating climate disasters. Together, we will pressure politicians to deliver the necessary policies to protect communities and force action to end coal and gas.
