Adani suspends two more contractors from ill-fated coal proposal

(Brisbane)– Project Manager Parsons Brinckerhoff and Korean construction company Posco are the latest contractors to be suspended from Adani’s ill-fated Carmichael coal project in the Galilee Basin.

The suspensions are the latest in a series of blows to India-based Adani’s unpopular plan, which has now seen six contractors pulled from the project in less than a month.

Charlie Wood, 350.org Australia’s Campaigns Director, issued the following statement in response:

“Adani’s decision to call off contractors from its hotly contested proposed Carmichael coal project is a another clear signal that this project is going belly up.

“It’s time for Adani and their financial and political backers to quit peddling this dangerous project and respond to widespread calls for the climate and Reef to be prioritised ahead of dirty coal profits.

“Just last week hundreds rallied outside Adani’s Brisbane office to demonstrate the growing and widespread opposition to this project.

“Already 11 international banks have ruled out involvement with Adani. It’s time for Australia’s banks and political leaders to do the same.”
